So glad your sister sent me your blog address via email. I have the utmost respect for your parents. I worked at EOSC for a little over 20 years and had the opportunity to be a student of Mr. Holland and work closely with Betty - now I don't know how those names came about to me; but that is how I continue to address them ..... I still live in Red Oak and do remember you from WHS days and EOSC. I now work at Kiamichi Technology Centers in Talihina. I will be passing on your blog and THANK YOU so much for the story about your mother - I knew a little of it but not told so eloquently. My best to you and your family. Congratulations on your successes!!!

David, I see that you're not a Huckabee fan, I'm still undecided. Unfortunately, who I think would be the best president seems to be the worst candidate and I don't expect Fred to still be in the race when we (OK) vote. I've read that you think Huckabee is Christian left, but I can't find anything like that in his record. I've been told by others that the SBC considers him liberal. Where can I find this info? I'd like to know on what issues he leans to the left and how far. If it comes to a choice between Romney (obvious misgivings), Guiliani (ugh, politically and personally-- his kids won't vote for him-- just ugh), McCain (campaign finance, filibustering rule buster, etc.), and Huck, then Huck is looking better. It's sad when we have to eliminate candidates rather than get behind one person with whom we really agree. Anyway, this is a long note. Please let me know a website where I can see for myself. Thanks!

Hey David!

I've been enjoying your posts off and on since our old friend Sally ended up in a more respectable position at EOSC with a more advanced degree than we thought possible. She told me you had visited, I did a search, and there you were...great combination of entertainment and thought provoking commentary.

I would love to visit more sometime offline. JD and I have only visited at the VERY infrequent reunions we've both attended. I saw Jay a couple of years back when my grandad died, and I hear from Steph and the old folk when something significant happens.

If you ever have the time or inclination, drop me a line.

Blessings,

Stephen

David,

I am enjoying all the blogs now. I had only been reading the one on the Holland/Simpson site. It was great to hear from you. (BTW, Bucketheads wedding was great!)

David,

Brilliant blather! Wieldy wincing! Repititious repeating--sometimes I read it twice to enjoy it more--or understand it more!

You are a vital voice crying to your generation and the next!

I hear you.

Keep up the great writing and amazing insight.

David, I hope that this is the correct venue to write to you. I'm sure that you won't remember me, but I was a roommate of Laura's in college. I remember how exciting it was to inherit your furniture for our little apartment! She wrote me about your blog in reference your father's illness. It was very touching. I've very much enjoyed reading the other articles. I was shocked to see that your girls are teenagers because I remember when you and your beautiful wife were expecting #2. I surprised myself because I even remember all 3 of their names (although I won't write them on the internet :)). I've been married since 1993 and have 4 children myself-- all of whom age too quickly also. Anyway, I only wanted to tell you that inside I hollar a hearty "AMEN" when I read your articles and will continue to enjoy your writings. God bless!
